Red jack fruit is a tropical tree, with evergreen and leathery leaves. The jackfruit tree is the largest tree-borne fruit in the world. The red jackfruit is multiple fruits, composed of hundreds to thousands of individual flowers, and the fleshy petals are eaten. The bark of the jackfruit tree is reddish-brown and smooth. The ripe and unripe fruit and seeds are consumed. Artocarpus heterophyllus grows as an evergreen tree A milky juice is released in case of any injury to the bark. It sometimes forms buttress roots. The inflorescences are formed on the branches and twigs. The flowers are very small but there are several thousand flowers in an inflorescence. The fruits consist of a rachis about 5-10 centimeters thick. The seed coat consists of an easily removable testa and a brownish, membranous tegmen.
