Strawberry guava or Cherry guava, an evergreen, compact, bushy shrub about 3 – 6 m of height, from Brazil, having smooth, rounded branches. Cherry guava’s leaves are glossy and smooth, leathery and of 5 – 8 cm long. The white flowers are borne close to the stems. They bloom in late spring. Sometimes the plant blooms a second time in late autumn. Fruit is round and 2.5 – 4 cm in diameter. Fruit has deep wine-red, with a very thin skin. The flesh has enough juice and believed to have the best flavor of natural guava. Cherry guava need good drainage. High temperature required.
